Welcome to the official web page of the Flatwoods Fire Department. I am Chief Richard L. Blevins. The Flatwoods Fire Department is a group of 36 dedicated men and women that proudly serve the citizens of Greenup County's largest city.
Our department focuses much of our efforts on training and fire prevention activities. Each year members of the Flatwoods Fire Department train thousands of hours. This training includes the curriculum of the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress and includes a range of topics from generalized training such as fire inspections to advanced training such as high-angle rescue and Aircraft crash rescue. The department makes training a number one priority to better serve our community.
We continue to make our Fire Prevention Program a high priority at our department. Through regular efforts such as safety presentations, fire inspections and active participation with the schools, we have seen the number of structure fires in our city plummet. This is a direct response to the fire prevention efforts.
The Flatwoods Fire Department is a highly trained, professional group of individuals that join together to make a top rate fire department protecting our friends and family.
