*Consideration for new members is given by the officers of the department, a member review committee, and a favorable background check. Upon acceptance to the department, based on a majority vote by the membership, all new members are subject to a probationary period to be determined by the department. Standard new member probationary period is one year. Members are expected to achieve 150-hours training to become certified by the State of Kentucky Fire Commission within their first two years as a member. Members must also maintain a minimum of 20 hours continuing education each year in order to continue as an active member of the department.
